NEW AFRICA-BASED MAGAZINE RELEASED

a.magazine launches in October 2007, currently accepting subscriptions

HOEDSPRUIT, South Africa (July 5, 2007)— Amazwi Writers Publishing is pleased to announce the
release of a.magazine: nonfiction narratives of africa

a.magazine is a nonfiction literary magazine showcasing established and emerging writers and artists
from Africa and across the globe.

The editorial team takes pride in the magazine's innovative style, blending quality narrative with a
strong graphic layout for a unique "lit-trade" mix. a.magazine has the permanence of a literary
publication and the premium finish of a design magazine.

"What has developed since our editorial team arrived in South Africa is an independent publication
with style, intellect, and real literary quality. We're working to bring what's new, beautiful, important,
and pressing on the continent into your home, wherever that may be," said Founding Editor Maggie
Messitt. "We choose our content to dispel myths, diversify people's perspectives, and foster a fuller
understanding of Africa, its nations, and its people. With a handful of exceptions, Africa is too often
overlooked when it comes to the contemporary arts. No longer."

Launching in October 2007, a.magazine can be purchased at independent bookstores across the U.S., as
well as at a handful of independent booksellers in Canada and South Africa. The newsstand rate for
individual issues is US$9 and subscriptions are US$27 (a 25 percent savings). These rates apply for
U.S. sales only. See www.amagazine.org/subscribe for international rates.
