The Institute of Events Management
IEM is the Event Producer for the 3rd International EMBOK IMBIZO (Conference) to be hosted at The Pavilion, Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg South Africa, from the 2nd to the 4th July 2007.
The Institute of Events Management is a collective body of event industry professionals committed to high standards of service.
The Institute is a forum where professional associations, event industry professionals and individuals aspiring to become professionals, can work together to achieve a number of goals in respect of industry professionalism:
· To further the profession & protect the interests of event industry professionals
· To maintain oversight of the legitimate practice of the occupation
· To protect the public interest
· To create an effective stakeholder communication channel for skills development
· To set and maintain criteria for Professional Certification
· To endorse the appointment of a Certification Body for Event Management certification
· To establish local and International Advisory Boards
· To facilitate Foreign Credential Recognition of Event Standards and Qualifications for mobility
· To maintain a Registry of Event Professionals as suppliers and customers to the event industry to support proposed legislation and standards
· To support socio-economic initiatives, Events with a Purpose, as a funding channel for creating sustainable community events for a longer term event tourism and thus supporting AsgiSA (Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa)
