South African farmer gets life for feeding employee to lions

A South African farmer has been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing one of his workers by throwing him into a Lion enclosure.
Mark Scott-Crosley and his employee Simon Mathebula attacked Nelson Chisale with machetes before throwing him into a Lion reserve early last year.
A skull found among the lions was later used as evidence. A South African High Court Judge described the killing as one of the most gruesome he has
ever been faced with.

Algerians vote to pardon rebels

Algerian voters have overwhelmingly backed a partial amnesty for Islamist rebels in a nationwide referendum held yesterday.
About 97 percent of people voted in favour of the amnesty which aims to end more than a decade of civil war in Algeria.
The referendum seeks to give President Abdelaziz Bouteflika powers to pardon the rebels that did not commit rape or mass killings.
It is estimated that 150 thousand people were killed in the conflict that started in 1992.

Theron is the first African to win an Oscar for a leading role in a feature film.
