Southern Africa: Zimbabwe raises additional US $50m for IMF
A high powered ZIMBABWE delegation led by Finance Minister Herbert Murerwa and Reserve Bank governor Gideon Gono flew out to Washington yesterday to avert that country's expulsion from the IMF.
This comes amid reports that ZIMBABWE has already raised the Fifty million US dollars it needs to avoid expulsion
The delegation leaves ahead of the IMF executive board meeting being held in Washington to decide on Zimbabwe?s membership of the fund.
Gono has denied reports that South Africa is the source of the funds and has reiterated that negotiations for a South African loan are still on going.

Still in Southern Africa: Malawi President woes mount
Malawi President Bingu wa Mutharika has sacked a senior minister from his cabinet. The Water Minister Gwanda Chakuamba, has been ejected from government to pave way for a corruption probe.
Allegations are that Chakuamba bought a luxury sedan with World Bank funds.
Chakuamba's removal is likely to hurt wa Mutharika's fragile support in parliament, dominated by the opposition.

West Africa: 12 year old Table Tennis Champ
A 12 year old Togolese youngster, Komi Agbetoglo, has won the Mini Cadet Boys' singles title at the Taiyuan Junior Open in China.
Agbetoglo beat South Korean Lee Seung.
He has also been selected by the African Table Tennis Federation for the ITTF World Cadet Challenge.
he tournament will be held in the Dominican Republic in October.
The twelve year old will live and train in France for the next three months.
