YOUTH PROTECTION

 

 

The survival of youths in a private sector-driven or full capitalist economy can no longer be guaranteed. This is due to the challenges that such an economy presents. it is usually characterized with the survival of the fittest as nearly everything is strictly a business. Money is made the lingua franca. That is, the only ticket to enjoying or accessing any benefit in life.

 

The pertinent questions then are:

 

*How would a jobless (no-income) youth survive this experience?

*Is youth empowerment not eroded already?

*Are youths not vulnerable to exploitation by this?

*Is youth survival or protection not an issue of national and continental (African) interest?

*How responsive are the government(s) and the society(ies) to this issue?

 

Premised on these, we appeal to all, to use the virtue of office, opportunity and goodwill to support and champion this campaign for the PROTECTION OF YOUTHS IN NIGERIA AND AFRICA.

 

 

 

FOLLOWING THE NEED TO EMANCIPATE THE AFRICAN YOUTHS, THERE IS NEED FOR A NETWORKING AMONG THE COMMUNITY OF THE CIVIL SOCIETY THAT ARE YOUTH INCLINED.

 

A NUMBER OF ISSUES RELATING TO THIS DISCOURSE NEED TO BE CONSIDERED TOGETHER BEFORE MOST OF US CAN APPRECIATE AND TRULY SEE THE URGENT NEED. THE ADVOCACY FOR THIS SHOULD NOT BE UNDERMINED AS MYRIAD OF YOUTHS ARE LANGUISHING AND ?EXISTING? ONLY AT THE MERCY OF THE CAPITALISTS.

 

THEREFORE, SHARE WITH OTHERS THE AREAS YOU BELIEVE THAT THIS DISCOURSE SHOULD ENTAIL. SOME OF THE AREAS PRESUMED ARE:

 

*THE REVIEW OF BOTH NATIONAL AND REGIONAL SOCIO-ECONOMIC    

 REFORMS VIS-AVIS THEIR IMPLICATIONS TO YOUTH SURVIVAL.

 

*REVIEW OF THE BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS FOR YOUTHS.

 

*DEFINITION OF WHAT CONSTITUTES YOUTH OR THE AGE RANGE.

*EFFICIENCY OF GOVERNMENTAL DEPARTMENTS FOR YOUTHS IN THE AFRICAN

 NATIONS.

 

*THE WITHDRAWAL OF GOVERNMENTS? STATUTORY RESPONSIBILITY (SOCIAL

 WELFARE) TO YOUTHS IN THE AFRICAN CONTINENT.
