I am writing to add my voice to those of others who have already written to commend the Edo State assembly for its courage in tabling a widows' rights Bill. However, in as much as the effort is commendable, victory can only be achieved when the Bill is passed into law. I am, therefore, urging the politicians and law makers to overcome the last hump and pass the Bill into law. Its about time we eliminated practices that are of no benefit to a large sector of the society - women. This is called progress without which we will still be living in the dark ages. The passing of the Widow's Rights Bill will bring about long overdue justice for women. As a woman and a Nigerian women, I am elated to see some progressive minds put to work for the benefit of women's rights. Keep up the good work.
