Dear members,

The communique drafting committee is busy preparing the
draft communique for your information and vetting.
Meanwhile many participants have asked for the
strategies for the action on the implementation of
Nigerian women's economic rights in all aspects of
National development policies and programmes. The
conference secretariat wish to submit the following
points for your consideration:

STRATEGIES:

1 The Nigerian Women Economic Rights Monitoring Group
would essentially be a monitoring group using media to
sensitize our national institutions and the Nigerian
public on gender issues to achieve gender equality and
equity.

2. All members of the group will be active
participants.

3. The Nigerian NGOs as the local change agents will
be divided into zones and would be responsible for
monitoring government policies and programmes in their
areas of activities. Members are enjoined to think
globally and act locally. We will then report our
activities to the group through this e-mail address
which will then be circulated in the list. Nigerian
NGO should use every opportunity at their disposal,
either when attending seminars, workshops or campaign
to sensitize the public on the importance of gender
equity and equality to bring about the desired change.

4. Networking, technical support and assistance
amongst members is recommended and encouraged.

Thank you.
JJ OWA
CONFERENCE CO-ORDINATOR
