> Dear Colleagues,
> The just concluded Internet Conference on Women's 
Economic Rights is a > positive contribution to the 
struggle for women's rights in Nigeria. The > 
recommendations made to the Oputa panel by Nogi 
Imoukhede and the > formation of a monitioring groups 
are also steps in the right direction. > However in 
order to strengthen these strategies, it may be 
imperative to > consider other comlpementary options 
in  judicial advocacy. Though > chapter two of our 
constitution which deals with socio economic rights > 
is not subject to adjudication, women can however 
pursue the realization > of socio economic justice 
through the contitutional provisions on > fundamental 
human rights (chapter four). Law is  a formidable 
instrument > against injustice, discimination and 
inequality and we encourage women > to engage the 
instutitutions that has impoverished them through the > 
courts.
