Dear participants, I agree with most of Lilian's comments she is my learned friend and fellow women's rights activist. I however do not agree with her assertion that the gender gap that exist is as a result of men's pysiological advantages. That is the main reason or excuse men have always aduced for marginalizing women. It has resulted in the age long gender stereotyping of women as the weaker sex and justifies gender inequity and inequality. I agree that women's domestic work is largely unrecognised and unappreciated and should be monitised. However, even if women's contributions in the domestic sector is monitised, I do not believe that, that is the main contribution of women to nation building. I agree with Amauche's assertion that education is the key to women's empowerment. In Nigeria the socialization process has relegated the girl - child to a position of inferiority from cradle to the grave, from the home to the school. Even in the school system girls are brainwashed to go into certain careers because they are supposedly more suitable for women. At home girls are consigned to certain chores and where the resources in the home are limited preference is invaribaly given to the boy. As a result girls suffer early child marriages and high school drop out rate. NOGI IMOUKHUEDE
