Hello,
I read Mrs Nogi Imoukhede's article. It is true all she said about the situation of the Nigerian Women. This is virtually the same for all women in developing nations. How do we tackle this problem. I think we should go to the genesis of the problem.
In most urban areas in Nigeria, boys and girls are registered into schools at age 5 or 6.  In primary school the ratio of boys to girls is 1:1. This trend continues until probably class 3 or 4 in secondary schools where some of the girls drop out due to teenage pregnancies or marriage. By the university level, the ratio is now 10:1 or more. So I was glad, with the news that a law preventing sexual relations with girls under 18 is in the national assembly.
Also woman groups should press for schools that give girls and boys a second chance to be established in all parts of the country. Not adult education centre, but proper schools that caters for the needs of secondary school drop out. It could be called second chance schools.
I think that will go a long way in bridging the gap  of qualified women and also prepare future Nigeria women to make a change economically and political. There is an adage that says," if you educate a woman, you educate the nation."
Thank you.
Felicia Aregheore (Mrs.)
