General Rules of Netiquette for the Virtual Seminar Series:

The Conference will be moderated in order to increase its effectiveness. We do
not
wish to limit the dialogue and we welcome a diversity of views, yet it
is
important that participants respect the general rules of this Conference.
Women's
Rights Watch Nigeria reserves the right to block senders who are using this
mailing list inappropriately.

Practices to follow:

* Please keep your messages relevant to the list topic.
* Please try to be brief.
* Please share opinions and experiences in an appropriate, respectful
and
professional manner. Obscenities, threats, abuse and harassment are
not
acceptable.
* Include your name in every message you post. It will be assumed that
participants are voicing their own views unless it is specifically
stated
that they are representing the views of their organization.
* This mailing list represents a multicultural community with
participants
in many countries, it is important to respect and appreciate cultural
differences.
* Language: Many mailing list users are non-native English speakers, so
please try to avoid idioms, slang, culturally specific expressions and
highly technical or academic language.

In the Subject Line:
* Use a descriptive title in the subject line to help list users manage
their email.

When Replying to Messages:
* To Send personal messages to the author of the message only, use
"reply".
* To Send a reply message to all the people on the list, use "reply
all".
* We suggest you do not use the reply functions for new messages, please
send
a new e-mail.
* When you reply to e-mails, please include only the part of the
original
message that you are refering to. Please do not include the whole text
of
the original message in your reply, and delete the rest.
* The "reply" directions will be appended to every email as a footer,
but
this can only be seen if your email program uses plain text instead of
HTML.
This can be set through your email program.

Text formatting:
* Use plain text only, not html or rich text, as this may exclude some
users.
* Use upper and lower case characters; please do not use only upper
case
characters as this indicates shouting.

Practices to Avoid:
* Please do not send your information through an attached file unless
specifically asked for it. Attachments can cause difficulty in
downloading
and increase the possibility of virus dissemination.
* Requests for others to do your research work.
* Re-posting of unsubstantiated rumors, e.g. e-mails regarding viruses.
* Complaints about other users' actions or the list itself. If you have
a
concern, send an individual mail or notify the list moderator.
