General Rules of Netiquette for the Virtual Seminar Series: The Conference will be moderated in order to increase its effectiveness. We do not wish to limit the dialogue and we welcome a diversity of views, yet it is important that participants respect the general rules of this Conference. Women's Rights Watch Nigeria reserves the right to block senders who are using this mailing list inappropriately. Practices to follow: * Please keep your messages relevant to the list topic. * Please try to be brief. * Please share opinions and experiences in an appropriate, respectful and professional manner. Obscenities, threats, abuse and harassment are not acceptable. * Include your name in every message you post. It will be assumed that participants are voicing their own views unless it is specifically stated that they are representing the views of their organization. * This mailing list represents a multicultural community with participants in many countries, it is important to respect and appreciate cultural differences. * Language: Many mailing list users are non-native English speakers, so please try to avoid idioms, slang, culturally specific expressions and highly technical or academic language. In the Subject Line: * Use a descriptive title in the subject line to help list users manage their email. When Replying to Messages: * To Send personal messages to the author of the message only, use "reply". * To Send a reply message to all the people on the list, use "reply all". * We suggest you do not use the reply functions for new messages,please send a new e-mail. * When you reply to e-mails, please include only the part of the original message that you are refering to. Please do not include the whole text of the original message in your reply, and delete the rest. * The "reply" directions will be appended to every email as a footer, but this can only be seen if your email program uses plain text instead of HTML. This can be set through your email program. Text formatting: * Use plain text only, not html or rich text, as this may exclude some users. * Use upper and lower case characters; please do not use only upper case characters as this indicates shouting. Practices to Avoid: * Please do not send your information through an attached file unless specifically asked for it. Attachments can cause difficulty in downloading and increase the possibility of virus dissemination. * Requests for others to do your research work. * Re-posting of unsubstantiated rumors, e.g. e-mails regarding viruses. * Complaints about other users' actions or the list itself.
