Dear friend
Thank you so much for praying for our ministry in
Kenya during the past two weeks.
We made really special connections with the Campus
Crusade guys in Nairobi (called Life Ministries) and have entered into a
strategic partnership to work together as organisations. They will provide the
connections and hosting of the training as we move ahead in Nairobi and across
Kenya.
We had 98 delegates attend our Foundations seminar
which was hosted by the Life Ministries guys at their head office in Nairobi. It
was a two day training event and was very positively received by all the
delegates. In total the training was attended by young leaders from 36 churches
including mainline denominations and renewal churches.
We will be returning to Kenya in May next year to
present our Vision seminar and then in November to present our fourth level,
Multiplication. We will also be training in Homa-Bay on the shores of Lake
Victoria to have a double thrust of development across the country. In time, the
Life Ministries guys will look to expand the movement into Mombassa in the
East.
Doug Holliday who is living with his family in
Nairobi with the goal of adopting a three year old girl, has been training on
the far West side of Kenya in a town on lake Victoria called Homa-Bay. Doug was
on staff with Sonlife some years back and is now with Cadre Ministries. He has
been training the Strategy seminar in Kenya over the past two years and has made
a great connection with a young pastor called Hammre. His father is the founder
of a church planting movement that has started 20 churches in the past 10 years
in the Western part of Kenya. Their ministry is called End Time Ministries and
really seems solid and effective in their context. Hammre will be overseeing the
training that we present in that region of Kenya.
Here are some comments we received from the
delegates:
> This is truly a training we need. I have
learned that this was the process Jesus used. It is a simple but strenuous
process that will/can bring thousands to the Lord. Pastor Hammre
Kayando
> Thanks to Sonlife and all the involved people
for having a burden of equipping an effective way of discipleship. This seminar
was a challenge to me and a spiritual awakening. Jeremiah Kinyanjui
> It is my humble prayer that each and every on
who attended the seminar will have a role in impacting change in the community
and society we're living in, remembering what Jesus did on earth. Coach Willis
Odhambo
>I have been challenged to see the improvement
needed in the ministry and my personal life especially concerning adoration and
nurture. I can faithfully say your resources are not wasted. Samuel
Chege
Let me end with an email Gary Howell, our central
Africa regional director, received from one of the delegates that he has
training in Cameroon:
------------------------- Dear Sir, I am
Juliette Poualeu. I was one of your students at the Academy of young leaders
level 1 in October in Cameroon. I write to appreciate you for the work you are
doing for the African youths and Cameroonian young leaders in particular. These
teachings have been a great blessing to me. They opened my eyes on the strategy
of Jesus in the making of disciples and I realise that these strategies are all
actual and they makes evangelism easy. After the seminar, I started practising
theses principles . Before the seminar I didn't know that I needed to cultivate
a relationship with someone before presenting the gospel to him/her and this
caused my friends to build walls each time I talked about Christ. Now, I
realised that the CPR method makes things easier. I am now cultivating a
relationship with a neighbour I want to win for Christ (according to CPR)
and it is working. I really thank God for your life and I pray that he
will help you in the work He has given you. God bless
you. -------------------------
Testimonies like these are received at least weekly
and are evidence that what we are training is being implemented in lives and
ministries across this beloved continent of Africa.
Here are some prayer needs we have for the coming
months:
1. Pray for us as we prepare to train church
leaders in Egypt in January to follow up new converts that are led to Christ
during the African cup of nations soccer tournament in Cairo and as we expose
these young leaders, who are gathering from all across North Africa, to our
Strategy seminar.
2. Pray that God will help us to effectively plan
ahead for all the contexts that we need to be following up with and for creative
ways to stay in touch with key leaders in each country that we are ministering
in across Africa.
3. Pray for Edgar Ramsami and Gary Howell as they
oversee ministry in Central and Southern Africa - pray for Edgar as he begins to
identify and release a director for Sonlife in South Africa so that he can focus
more on ministry in Southern Africa - he has started new work in Namibia and
Botswana in the past four months and will be following them up early in
2006.
4. Pray for Peter Brokopp, our West Africa regional
director, who is on furlough in the States - pray that he would return in 2006
ready to impact the whole of his region.
5. Pray that God, in His perfect time, will help us
grow our movement in East Africa, help up identify key leaders from countries
like Kenya and also to identify, equip and appoint a regional director for East
Africa.
6. Pray for our country directors across the
continent that as they have the challenge of raising their support and share
their time with local church, parachurch or other opportunities that they will
have the time and passion to multiply themselves and develop movements that make
disciples that make disciples that make disciples.
Your co-worker in the kingdom
