Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It is amazing how an upcoming trip spurs me on to send out an update email - I clearly realise that without having brothers and sisters committed to meaningful prayer any such ministry is seriously risky. I guess the challenge I face is to be more consistent in providing updates even when dealing with more seemingly mundane or behind the scenes activity like the development of training material or vision and strategy. On Monday I leave for ten days of ministry in Gabon in West Africa. Gary Howell, who is now our Central African regional leader was previously based in Gabon and I have had the privilege of travelling to Gabon on numerous occasions to present the various levels of our training. He has handed over the reins of leadership to Pamphile Toung and I have the privilege of presenting the final level of training in Libreville next week. The trip is from the 2nd to the 11th of August. Here are some prayer requests: * Pray for the challenge of ministering in a Francophone country - particularly pray that the translator will be able to communicate clearly and effectively as I train in English. * Pray that the delegates will do the hard work of completing the challenging assignments that are contained within the advanced levels of our training. * Pray for my family as they remain behind: my wife Debbie, and my two children, Keegan and Ashley. You have probably heard of our staffing changes in recent months, with Colin leaving Sonlife to pursue other areas of consulting within both corporate and church contexts. We do pray that God will continue to lead him in the months and years that lie ahead. I have had exciting emails in recent weeks that are filled with reports of our country leaders from Burkina Faso to Nigeria to Malawi to South Africa. They are all faithfully continuing to equip young leaders with skills and passion for disciplemaking in their respective countries. Continue to pray that God will give them wisdom and passion to continually expand the impact of their ministries. Thank you for your prayers for the trip that was undertaken to Ghana in May. Colin and I managed to present our basic level seminars (Foundations and Strategy) in Kumasi, Accra and Tema and also were privileged to complete the process with our advanced level in Tema. Pray for Amos Kevin-Annan as he continues the disciplemaking process in his country. Check the website for photographs from these seminars by following the link to the Contexts page and then on to the Ghana page. May God receive all the praise for this movement of disciplemaking that is sweeping the continent. The depth we are seeing in local churches across the continent is clearly a result of leaders following the command given by Jesus in the Great Commission and the example set in His life and ministry.
