-------> [ENGLISH] AUTOMATIC TRANSLATION NOT REVISED FROM THE ORIGINAL IN french

[ In response to the message of Leon, on behalf of Issa (Alf@net) ]

Hello Leon,

I leaned on Drupal 5 these last weeks, and I now became a
follower! We besides soon will start again our Alf@net site under
Drupal.

It is particularly easy to translate a Drupal site into several
languages by using the modules "local" included and "i18n", that it is
necessary to download and install separately. All the chaînes of the
system are also very easy to translate, and no problem for the African
languages since Drupal is based on UTF-8, and supports also the
languages being written of right-hand side on the left [ RTL ] like
Arabic. In the condition of giving them the adapted rights of access,
the translators can also intervene directly on the site, starting from
any computer connected to the Internet.

If not, we saw the Web site of EDUC, it is very well made. It also
seems that you used a CMS. There should thus be facilities for the
translation.

For our technique of translation Web house, we any more will not use
it, but that functioned rather well.

- One stores all the chains in files XML simple classified by language
in suitable files.

- One dynamically reads the XML with library PHP MiniXML, while basing
oneself on the language selected by the user
http://minixml.psychogenic.com/

- the current language is transmitted of page on page through
the URL. Then, when one wishes to translate the chaînes, one sends
files XML to the translators in national languages, which can publish
them in Microsoft Word, a software which they control well in
general.

But now that we have Drupal, we will not use any more this system.

Greetings on behalf of Ousmane, Merry Christmas and Bonne Year, thank
you for the virtual chart. Cordially,

Issa
