Hello Gift,

I was prevented by several voyages these a few months master
keys and during the majority of time I did not have access to the
Internet. I come from arrive has Conakry, Guinea, after some days has
Dakar, Senegal. As always I appreciate the advisability of taking part
in the discussions with the other members of the group Unicode-Africa
especially when Ca relates to KB.

As you it can the problem integrate KB with the Microsoft Window was
a question of time. According to the technologists of Microsoft, work
of inclusions of KB in the plays Unicode 5,00 is not finishes in time
to make the modifications of KB in Uniscribe before the introduction
of VISTA. Consequently we do not have Unicode police forces yet lend
for the Microsoft platform. We continue to work on alternatives and
if other members of the group one of the ideas on this subject I them
taken to let us know.

Concerning the police forces KB, we always have the pre-Unicode police
forces 5,00. They are police forces, and keyboards using to it KB, the
Arab or imposed super Latin. The organizations KB does not continue
used these police forces and keyboards which are compatible for text
processing from the Window Microsoft 2000. The problem for us is that
early or late will be to oblige to us to convert these data into codes
Ko/Unicode 5.00

.

The members of the Team for Technological Integration of KB and with
the assistance of our friends Michael Everson de Evertye,
Sharon Correll of the SIL and Debbie Anderson of the University of
California (Berkeley) work while waiting on new alternatives for the
integration of KB with Unicode 5,00.

Among these efforts we work on police forces, keyboards, and other
functions on MAC and LINUX. One of these efforts is the Conakry police
force which is already compatible with MAC like said it Michael.
Our problem is that for the moment the majority of software on the
market like OpenOffice or StarOffice do not support is it KB or the
direction of right-hand side on the left.

Nevertheless our goal is always to allow the organizations and user KB
to profit advisability of presenting by introduction of KB into
Unicode. At the same time we hope that the persons in charge has
Microsoft soon will make the modifications necessary has Uniscribe so
that the communities of KB cannot profits has technology and the
Microsoft platform.

My congratulations with Mr. Camara for these efforts for the
localization of the Guinean languages. Come I am has Conakry, I
will contact it directly so that one discusses his situation of police
force KB.

Once more my thanks for your efforts for the interest of the African
languages.
