There are also two other ways to cause a term not to be translated: 1) Use an alternate spelling. For instance spell .Ewe with an é - Ewé will not be translated. 2) For a software name like .MS.Word or OpenOffice.org .Writer, put the names together. For example MSWord or OOoWriter. Otherwise, .Word will be translated in French as "mot" and in Portuguese as "palabra." A small amount of attention to the contents of the message will facilitate its translation into other languages. > -----Original Message----- > From: pal-en-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pal-en- > bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Don Osborn > Sent: Wednesday, December 13, 2006 10:13 PM > To: PAL-en@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [PAL-en] PAL lists: Tip/Conseil #2 > > If you want a word in your email not to be translated, then put a dot in front of the word. > > This is especially useful with some technical words and also with some brand names. > > > > > > _______________________________________________
