SYSTEM ADMIN JOB OFFER ALQUESTA GmbH LINUX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR RESOURCE NEEDED Alquesta GmbH, New German Internet Start-up based in Bonn requires a LINUX Systems Administrator for immediate start in February or /March 2008 JOB TYPE: Contract, Flexible & Part-time JOB DURATION: 6 months part-time, possibility to extend for another 6 months period JOB DESCRIPTION: The environments are web platforms running on RedHat Linux OS with open source stacks based on LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP). This system & database admin job shall include but not limited to the following: · Oversee the installations and configurations of Linux operating systems and hosting server clusters, performance testing, optimising and fine tuning server environment for our software applications · Manage auditing of software delivered by our outsourcing companies · Compilation and running of software application · Regular backups of new software application including source code management and version control · Access control and security of the system · Technical consultation of required server architecture for our software application ? scalability, performance, robustness, etc. Define strategies & tactics to deploy multi-server, multi-module service applications with regards to redundancy, robustness, modularity, 24/7 availability of the infrastructure · Technical account management REQUIRED SKILLS: Experience in the following and skills are required: 1. You must have experience in a large-scale production linux webserver cluster environment. 2. RedHat Linux Systems Admin - Systems based on Linux redhat enterprise 3. Be familiar with database management and TCP/IP networks, with Cisco routers desirable. 4. AJAX, ATOM/RSS, MySQL, Perl, Apache HTTP Server 2.2 & lightweight webserver, P 5.2.0 and newer, MySQL 5.0 and newer, ImageMagick 6.3.0 and newer, PRADO Framework 3.1 and newer, SMTP server 5. Configuration management & scripts for complex service & application including a) scripts for installation, b) software completeness check, c) archiving, d) management of upgrade & update of software packages 6. Some experience of DNS load balancing 7. General English Language ? spoken and written. References shall be required. LOCATION: Mostly remote. Task can be accomplished from own home or office. The company operational office in Bonn. There may be few trips to Bonn or Cologne or Munich.
