Dear Mr. Marawu

The above-mentioned subject matter refers.

Thank you very much for bringing the above-mentioned issue to the attention of
the Lagos Mission, we are indeed grateful.

Your kind assistance in requesting Mrs. Bunmi Adedina to call me, Mr. LG Tawe,
mobile number: xxxxxxxxxx, (number deleted by moderator for security reasons)
with regard to the above-mentioned subject matter will be highly appreciated.

Rest assured that the Lagos Mission will investigate the alleged behaviour of
Mission officials, i.e. It looks as if the South African High Commission is in
a race to be the most rude and most
inconveniencing Embassy when it comes to those who wants to travel to their
country and even when you come back to your country you are still suspected.;

Your kind assistance in requesting Madam Adedina to call me urgently for an
appointment purposes with her and further discuss her experience in the Lagos
Mission will be highly appreciated.

I remain yours sincerely for bringing this issue to our attention.

LG Tawe
Second Secretary
SA Lagos mission
Nigeria

Dear Mr Tawe,

Thanks for your efforts on this issue. My receipt number which is xxxxxx,
(number deleted by moderator for security reasons) has been sent through a text
to your cellphone number. I will not be able to come as you requested to the
High Commission tomorrow 6th November,2007 because I will be busy with
official duties at my place of work for the next three days.

On the fact that I said that “;the high Commission seems to be in a race to be
the most rude and the most inconveniencing embassy when it comes to giving
visa”; I still stand on this. The hassles I went through in getting the visa
for this journey that the compulsory reparation fees has not been paid yet for
more than three months after returning; can be better imagined
than experienced. Is it the harrassment of the visa seekers at the embassy gate
by security officials and the police or the incessant and unnecessary waiting
after getting entrance into the Embassy premises or the constant booking and
the coming and going many times for the appointments to know whether you are
given or going to be given a visa?.

I do not mean it as an insult but as a reflection of the horrifying experiences
I went through while trying to get a Visa for an Academic exercise and some of
my colleagues who were for the conference had a lot of tales to tell. At the
same conference the keynote speaker, a well known African writer, Professor
Femi Osofisan was not granted Visa until 5.00 p.m on the
eve of the Conference for a keynote address expected to be delivered at
8.00a.m the following day. His address had to be delivered for him by another
person.
It is not my intention to raise all these, but the delay in refunding the
money which was a deposit made me to ask for help from a friend.

I believe that my situation will make the South African High Commision in
Nigeria to have a second look at her process of issuing Visa in Nigeria. There
are many others who had gone through the harrowing experiences of mine and who
laments their plight at the gate whenever I went to seek for the refund of the
deposit.

Thank you, I hope we should all expect better services from the Embassy.

Thank you.

Mrs. Bunmi Adedina
Nigeria

Dear friends and Colleagues,

I would like to thank you for your valuable contributions to this discussion
going on. The immigration services are responsible from country to another to
fix the conditions for all kind of trips in their countries.

The only one issue here is to know the reason why the SA Embassy didn't refund
the deposit after our colleague returned in Nigeria?

The better think to do should be to ask to some of our Nigerian Colleagues to
approach the Embassy and find out the reality of this issue.

Another option should be to send a letter to the Nigerian Foreign Affairs
Minister , who could talk to the SA Embassy Consul and find the best way to
resolve it.

Once again thank you very much and kind wishes
