Dear Friends,
Good day.I will be glad if members on this listserve can do something about the below email from a colleague.I know that the South African High Commission in Lagos needs a turn around, from handling visa requests and asking Nigerians to pay reparation ,for visiting South Africa,is un-called for and the hassle you have to go through in getting a refund, is another thing.
I will be waiting for strategies to stop this attitude.
Thanks,
Tola

Dear Tola,

How are you? I am using this to inform you that the
deposit I paid when I was going to South Africa for
the conference at Stellenbosch in July has not been
returned to me.As you know, I borrowed the money from
the college and if not for his trust in me till now,
he would have the feeling I dont want to repay the
money.

Collecting this deposit which the High Commission
stylishly put in my way while I was travelling to
South Africa to prove that I will return to Nigeria
(which I have done now for more than 3 months) is
becoming a problem for them to refund. It is now a
case of unnecessary appointments and delay. This I
think does not give a good image to the Consular or
Embassy staff. It looks as if the South African High
Commission is in a race to be the most rude and most
inconveniencing Embassy when it comes to those who
wants to travel to their country and even when you
come back to your country you are still suspected .
If the plan is to make me forget the N110,000:00 (
One hundred and Ten Thousand Naira only)through
frustration which the High Commission made me to pay
under duress (within 24 hours) I will not forget
because it is not my money and I could not be paying a
debt when I know the money is with a body that seems
not organised enough to deal with other human beings
with courtesy and respect.

Pls. could you use your good person to appeal on my
behalf to the Consular here.I need my money.
Thanks.

Your Colleague,
