EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

PROGRAM OFFICER

The Philippine Development Assistance Programme Inc., a partnership
organization of 22 Canadian non governmental organizations and individuals
is seeking a Program Officer who will work in close collaboration with other
staff, PDAP members, volunteers and partners in the Philippines and Canada
in fulfillment of PDAP's vision of poverty alleviation and sustainable
development.  The Program Officer is responsible for providing overall
support to the effective and efficient management of PDAP's Promoting
Participation in Sustainable Enterprises and other development projects
related to sustainable agriculture, community based enterprises, peace
building and food security.

The Program Officer reporting to the Executive Director is responsible for:
¨ preparation of progress reports and narrative reports to funding agencies
and PDAP members;
¨ monitors and reports on the Canadian NGO contributions and their financial
matching;
¨ maintains and updates the development of resource information base,
database, newsletter and website;
¨ assists in the preparation of documents for Board and Committee meetings;
¨ communicates program info to members, partners and organizations;
¨ monitors the progress of PPSE program and provides general updates to the
Executive Director;
¨ helps develop Canadian based programme component of PPSE and other new
programs and fund raising initiatives;
¨ represents the organization at various forums and meetings.
¨ participates in the planning and implementation of PDAP's long term and
annual program plans/strategies; assists in the preparation of budget,
monitoring and reporting on expenditures, annual program performance
evaluations, regular staff meetings, mobilizing programme support and
resources; new project development, approval and funding;
¨ facilitates the access to different resources (technical, financial,
human) to support research, policy advocacy, strategy development and
development education/public awareness raising;
¨ promotes and helps market PDAP goals, objectives and new programmes in
sustainable development with donor agencies, new contacts, multi-cultural
groups, the Filipino-Canadian community and the private sector.

Qualifications:

¨ a university degree in international development related field
¨ 5 years minimum experience in sustainable development including community
development in a rural setting and programme coordination work in Southeast
Asia or the Philippines
¨ a sound understanding of development issues, realities and alternatives in
developing countries particularly the Philippines
¨ proven program management skills in project development, implementation,
monitoring and evaluation
¨  advanced level of computer skills including MS Office 2000, Excel,
Desktop Publishing and proficient in the use of Email and the internet.
¨ capacity to work in a self-directed manner as well as collaborate with
others using a team approach
