The attached announcement from Translate.org.za about Software Freedom Day
in Pretoria / Tshwana, South Africa may be of interest to those who have not
seen it. Also it brings up the question about what other such activities are
planned elsewhere in Africa, especially if it somehow connects with
localization.

For those not familiar with it, it was begun several years ago as "a global,
grassroots effort to educate the public about the importance of software
freedom and the virtues and availability of Free and Open Source Software."

Subject: [translate-announce] Wonderful Software Freedom Day

Hello Translate.org.za friends,

Software Freedom is Happening this Saturday , 15 September 2007!
Time : 9:00 - 15:00
There will be Lunch and Drinks available.
Entrance is Free but the Lunch and Drinks aren't. ;)

Live Translation
----------------
We will be translating live, so even if you can't make it to Pretoria
why not join us online and translate at http://pootle.translate.org.za
On the day we will continue to translate Tuxpaint and will be adding
GNOME games (which is also now available on Windows). Our Afrikaans
translators will be focusing on GNOME chess, their will be chess lessons
at the event so we thought it appropriate to ensure that there is also
an Afrikaans chess program.

Talk. How can I get involved?
------------------------------
Every hour on the hour Translate.org.za will give a short talk on our
stand highlighting how you can get involved in what we do. We want to
see programmers, translators, activists, do gooders and well wishers.
There's a job for you.

Program: http://softwarefreedomday.org/teams/africa/SouthAfrica/Pretoria
