For those of you on the LinkedIn network, I have set up an
"A12n" networking group for people working on localization
("L10n") of software, web content, and mobile technology in African
languages, internationalization ("i18n") support for such work, and
research and development of advanced applications / HLT for African languages.
"A12n" of course is the tech abbreviation for Africanization /
Africanisation.
To join, go to this page http://www.linkedin.com/e/gis/132951/040A29460ED4
(I will also try to "preapprove" those of you who are already among
my LinkedIn connections).
The hope is that this group can be another tool to enhance
peer networking among diverse people who are actively interested in the meeting
of African languages with ICT, but whose work tends to take them in diverse directions
(PALNet, OLPC, FOSS, proprietary software, HLT research, African language
teaching, etc…). It can also serve to raise the profile of our work in
the larger professional communities.
If you are not on LinkedIn, it is easy to join at http://www.linkedin.com/ .
